Pilot plant

Our pilot plant represents a vitally important step on the road to commercialisation. It enables our most promising results from laboratory, bench-scale work to be tested and optimised on a much larger integrated process, which closely simulates the conditions that would be experienced on a full commercial plant. It therefore provides us with a high degree of confidence in the ultimate performance of our process, and greatly reduces the technical and commercial risk of commercialisation. Our pilot plant is providing us with all the necessary data we need to progress with confidence and speed to full commercial scale. Several important innovations have been made over the last 5 years thanks to the scale and integrated nature of our pilot plant, which simply would not have been possible using only laboratory scale equipment.

 

INEOS Bio is unique in the field of biocatalytic conversion of synthesis gas to bioethanol, in that we have tested, proven and optimised our technology over the past 5 years on an integrated pilot plant.
